Charges laid over fatal crash in Whitsundays

A man has been charged over a fatal crash in the Whitsundays.

Around 10.24am on July 28, the 33-year-old was driving a white Isuzu light truck when he crashed into a red Isuzu D-Max ute and a white Mercedes Benz motorhom on Shute Harbour Road at Cannon Valley.

The collision killed a 63-year-old man driving the ute and left the four people in the motorhome in hospital with minor injuries.

Investigations have now led to the 33-year-old man being charged with one count each of drive without due care and attention causing death, and drive with relevant drug in blood whilst not the holder of a licence.

He is due to appear in Proserpine Magistrates Court on November 24.

Investigators are continuing to appeal for witnesses, especially those with relevant dashcam vision in the area between 10am and 10.30am on July 28, to come forward.
