Outdoor lovers have a brand new track to experience as the first Destination 2045 project prepares to opens in our backyard.
The Ngaro track on Whitsunday Island is a 32km trail – which will soon host hikers, tour groups and nature lovers.
It’s the first project from the Crisafulli government to boost ecotourism across the state.
The track starts at Whitehaven beach and travels to Hill Inlet with the history of the island a major feature.
Minister for the Environment and Tourism Andrew Powell said the Crisafulli Government was delivering a fresh start for Queensland’s tourism industry.
“Queensland is the home of the holiday, and opening up immersive experiences in some of Queensland’s most jaw-dropping destinations is what makes our state so memorable,” Minister Powell said.
“The Ngaro Track will offer hikers the opportunity to step into an extraordinary landscape, learn about cultural connections, and take home life-long memories, leaving only their footprints behind.
“Move over, Tasmania – Queensland is setting a new benchmark for ecotourism with our Destination 2045 plan.”
