There has been a dramatic arrest at a Mackay shopping centre following reports a man was armed and making threats.
Police were called to Canelands shopping centre around 4.30pm yesterday, to reports of a man possibly armed with a weapon, threatening a male staff member.
The staff member, a 24-year-old man, was not physically injured.
A 28-year-old man was located by police less than 10 minutes later and taken into custody.
It will be alleged the man was carrying a cap gun.
He has been charged with three counts of going armed so as to cause fear and one count of attempted robbery – use/threaten violence armed/pretends to be.
The man is due to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court today.
