A pair of local grandparents have been left shocked after discovering they’d won $929,000 in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw.
They held one of the six division one winning entries.
“Oh, my goodness! I’m shaking like a leaf!” the woman said when receiving the call to confirm her win.
“We’ve been playing Saturday Gold Lotto for years and years, but we never expected to win anything like this!
“I can’t even process what this means for us right now. I’m just absolutely gobsmacked. Is this even real?
“My mind is racing, but I already know that we’ll put this win to good use and share it with our children and grandchildren.
“It’s going to change more lives than just ours.
“I can’t believe it. Thank you so much!
“This has made our year, and it’s only January!”
Their winning entry was purchased at Nextra Caneland News & Gift.
Manager Brenda Stockden says the team are over the moon to know they’d had a part in changing somebody’s life.
“It’s an incredible feeling to know we’ve played a part in making someone very happy!” she says.
“We’ve been celebrating with ours customers since we received the news and a number of them can’t believe it either.
“We’d like to wish our winners all the best for the future and hope they have a wonderful time celebrating.”
