Emergency services have been called to the scene of a chemical spill at the Mackay Aquatic and Recreation Complex.
It happened at 6.06am, this morning on Boundary Road, causing an evacuation of the building.
QFES is currently investigating the site and have advised that the leak has been contained to the plant room.
However, the ARC will be closed for the rest of the day so the issue can be investigated and properly dealt with.
There are no reports of patients.
Mackay Regional Council expects the facility can be reopened tomorrow and will keep the public updated on council’s Facebook page and website.
Residents are also advised that they can use their memberships at Pioneer Swim Centre in North Mackay while Mackay ARC is closed.
