Police are appealing for information into a crash that happened on Buthurra Station Road near Calen.
Emergency services rushed to the scene early Saturday, September 10.
A 45-year-old Mount Ossa man was trapped in the ute and had to be cut from the vehicle.
Once extricated he was taken to hospital. Officers still don’t know what caused the crash.
It comes as the nearby Miriani electorate has been named the second deadliest in the state.
Up until the end of July this year, 10 lives have been lost on roads in the area with a young motorcyclist also dying at the weekend.
Local MP Stephen Andrew says the figures are alarming and he’s fighting for upgrades.
“I’ve been working with Minister Bailey to do a lot of the road upgrades and we constantly take photos and give them kilometre numbers of stretches of road between Rockhampton and Mackay,” he says.
He’s also urging locals to let him know about trouble roads in the electorate so he can push for repairs.
