Then between February 13 and 21, a 27-year-old woman, had been walking on the Bluewater Trail, near Iluka Park, when an unknown man attacked her.

Mackay Whitsunday Detective Inspector Emma Novosel said both victims have been subject to violence prior to these sexual assaults, adding there was a “limited description of the offender involved”.

“The traumatic nature of these attacks, it’s sometimes difficult for victims to recall those sort of details,” she said.

“We’re working with these victims to try and ascertain a better description of the offender.”

Inspector Novosel said one of the women had been wearing headphones when she was attacked.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the Bluewater Trail, Illuka Park, or Town Beach areas around the relevant dates and noticed anything suspicious to come forward.

Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have CCTV, dashcam, or other footage from nearby streets, car parks, or walking tracks.

Police are conducting proactive patrols of the area while investigations continue.

As a precaution, police encourage members of the public using walking trails and beach areas to remain aware of their surroundings and consider exercising with others where possible.
