Detectives from Moranbah Criminal Investigation Branch investigating alleged auction fraud have charged a local woman with 16 counts of fraud.
It will be alleged that between September and October 2022 attempts were made to fraudulently sell tickets for concerts in Brisbane for an international country music performer (in August 2023).
The attempts were allegedly made online via well-known social media platforms.
Police will allege some of the tickets were going for around $3,500 (set of four) and the alleged victims (14) were aged between 18 and 43 and were from QLD, NSW, VIC, TAS and the NT.
Detectives acting on a complaint after monies were allegedly paid executed a search warrant at a local address on October 14 where they arrested and subsequently charged a 34-year-old woman with 16 counts of fraud – dishonestly obtain property from another.
Two fraud charges related to alleged party hire goods and the sale of other property.
She was denied police bail and appeared in the Moranbah Magistrates Court on October 17 and is due to re-appear on November 4.
