Eungella Dam is closing to the public from October 4 to October 24 to upgrade the recreation area.
The closure applies to the entire site including camping grounds and facilities.
No onsite camping will be permitted during this time and signs will be installed at three main entry routes.
Recreation upgrade works will include:
- Improvements to the carpark next to the amenities block.
- Restoration of roads for safer, easier access to campgrounds and facilities.
- Installation of a security camera system in the campground to discourage illegal activity and anti-social behaviour.
Sunwater says about a quarter of the site has severe erosion so following the upgrades the damaged area will remain closed for 12 months to enable rehabilitation and revegetation.
