Thirty people have been charged so far in a Mackay and Whitsunday police operation on Hamilton Island.
Operation Victor Boston is targeting the fatal five; speeding, intoxication, failure to wear a seat belt, driver fatigue and distraction.
Mackay officers are conducting regular patrols and operations within the district.
Promoting and enhancing road safety is a key priority for Mackay and Whitsunday police, whose focus is to reduce the devastation of the road toll, with 22 lives lost on Mackay District roads last year.
So far 30 people have been charged with drink driving and 20 traffic infringements have been issued, as part of Operation Victor Boston.
Police are reminding locals that everyone has a role to play in reducing road trauma.
