Man, 36, to face court on weapons and drug offences

An East Mackay man has been charged with weapon and drug offences.

On the morning of January 31, 2026- the Tactical Crime Squad and Dog Squad attended a Bridge Road motel.

It’s understood police were at the premise in relation to a wanted person and declared an emergent search.

During a search of the premise, police say they found a gun, ammo, as well as drugs and drug utensils.

The 36 year old man has been charged with six offences- two counts of possessing dangerous drugs (methamphetamine, buprenorphine), and one count each of possessing relevant substances (butanediol), unlawful possession of weapons (shortened firearm), authority required to possess explosives (ammunition), and possess utensils.

The man was remanded in custody after his arrest. He will be expected in court on 24 February.
