The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is investigating a helicopter crash in the Whitsundays over the Australia Day long weekend.
On Sunday morning the mayday signal was sent out from a chopper off the coast of Daydream Island.
The helicopter reportedly had engine failure and landed into the water safety.

The pilot was luckily uninjured.
News Corp reporting the ATSB is currently investigating the circumstances of the crash.
