Two men have been rescued after getting trapped in floodwaters west of Mackay.

The men were located by the CQ Rescue Helicopter near Mt Coolon on Friday after their vehicle got stuck in the floodwaters on their way to Charters Towers.

Both were winched to safety and assessed by the onboard paramedic, who confirmed neither man had sustained any injuries.

The men were transported to a safe location before Queensland Police Service conveyed them by road to Mt Coolon.

Air Crew Officer Ben McCauley said the rescue was a timely reminder for motorists not to attempt to drive through floodwaters.

“While BMA CQ Rescue is always ready to respond, we urge the community to never drive through floodwaters,” Mr McCauley said.

“Conditions can change rapidly and what appears safe can quickly become life-threatening. Today was a positive outcome, and we were able to reach the men before the situation worsened.”
